Musical Question
Who We Are

Stephen Tosh
is first and foremost a composer of serious modern classical music. He began serious composition at the age of 14, and always enjoyed an active interest for his work in the Salinas and Carmel areas. Such institutions as Hidden Valley Music Seminars, Hartnell College Theater (Salinas), Ensemble Monterey, the Cabrillo College Choral Department and Pacific Repertory Theater of Carmel have all sponsored and commissioned works from him over the last thirty years. Having moved to Paso Robles in 1981, he has also expanded his audience to include the Central Coast. Mr. Tosh has created a large selection of works, including 5 symphonies, 2 piano sonatas, a clarinet sonata, a string quartet, a piano quintet, a woodwind quintet, 3 trios, 3 concertos, 3 operas, a piano suite, 6 song cycles, pieces for pipe organ, 10 musicals, and countless other works

including music for dressage. His talent as a pianist as well as a composer, and his versatility with commercial and classical idioms, has allowed him to remain a full-time professional musician all his adult life.

He has also been involved with many theater companies on the central coast such as the Pacific Repertory Theater in Carmel, Western Stage in Salinas, Forest Theatre in Carmel, and many productions with Pioneer Players in Paso Robles.
